Position Information

Job Description

Coordinate the activities of direct reports to ensure completion and accuracy of facility operating criteria and standards. Coordinate set-ups and tear-downs of events. Develop and execute project plans to prepare facilities for operation, including renovations, relocations, and expansions. Implement energy conservation and sustainability programs. Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs. Develop annual maintenance and utility expense budgets and provide oversight. Prepare requests for proposals, analyze, and perform cost-of-ownership analyses. Develop and establish standards for all buildings FF&E;, systems, and processes. Develop annual maintenance budgets and manage projects to meet those budgets. Develop detailed project plans and schedules for college-related projects. Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Establish maintenance processes and procedures. Oversee service and small contract negotiations with contractors and third-party vendors and ensure performance standards are met. Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Shop. Develop and implement policies and programs as necessary. Perform all human resource management functions including hiring, terminations, skills development, recognition and rewards, performance management, and staff productivity. Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal customers, third-party vendors, and external customers. Oversee safety and environmental compliance. Maintain awareness of regulatory requirements related to OSHA and EPA. Establish and maintain key performance metrics that drive success in operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Extensive years of supervisory skills in commercial building maintenance or significant years of supervisory skills in commercial building maintenance and a Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated project management skills. Very strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision. Intermediate to expert knowledge of common desktop productivity applications. Ability to inspire a shared vision; and empower/motivate a team. Demonstrated ability to build professional rapport, effectively lead a team, and positively influence diverse groups. Strong understanding of contracting practices and methods. Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and manuals. Knowledge of applicable safety codes. Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Satisfactory reference and background checks are a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, construction engineering or a related field. Extensive years of supervisory skills in commercial building maintenance.

Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, to include some evening and weekend hours as needed.
