Power Mechanical, Inc is currently seeking hardworking, career-oriented individuals of good character to fill multiple Structural Welder positions within our organization. Our company is family-owned and operated in Newport News, Virginia, and we specialize in the production of energy, both hot and cold. We rent, sell, purchase, service, and install a wide variety of large industrial equipment which includes boilers, chillers, cooling towers, valves, generators, and more. Power Mechanical has been in business for 31 years and currently has approximately 100 employees, many of which have been with us since the day we opened. Our company serves clients on five continents within various industries, ranging from projects at the White House to providing equipment on the other side of the world to textile mills in Saudi Arabia. We are a faith-based organization with a strong commitment to helping our team members grow both in and out of work. We host monthly training sessions for all employees, focusing on personal and professional development, corporate culture, and safety.
The Welder position is responsible for, but is not limited to:
Welding steel, aluminum, and stainless steel parts using a MIG and/or TIG weld
Reading and interpret blue prints
Being able to weld without a set plan or procedure
Setting up welding machines based on the job
Setting up welding cells for serial production runs
Operating specific machinery
Assembling items as instructed
This position requires:
Being able to follow all company policies
Working safely while meeting quality standards and
Lifting over 60+ lbs.
Great levels of focus
Attention to details
Ability to work alone and with others
One year experience and training; an Associate’s degree (A.A.); or equivalent from a two year college or technical school
Knowledge of raw material, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
Ability to identify and measure materials
Work in the metric system
Ability preform simple shop math
Excellent customer service
Effective communication skills
Candidate should be willing and able to learn and have a dependable and reliable work ethic. This position is fulltime and requires overtime. A candidate with non-essential abilities, such welding certifications, or has a mechanical or electrical background is a preferred candidate.
You will quickly learn the industry as you progress. We focus on character and adaptability so the applicant must have a professional demeanor, be punctual and easy to get along with yet focused and self-driven.
