BAE Systems Contracts Internship - Summer in Norfolk, Virginia

Job Description

This position is for a Summer 2018 Contracts Internship located at BAE Systems' Norfolk Ship Repair in Norfolk, VA.

This intern will support the Contracts Department reporting to the Manager of Contracts. Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist Contracts to evaluate, estimate, administer and manage Navy surface ship repair package/s including the installation, modification, and repair of complex equipment and systems in Engineering, Crew Berthing,

  • Electronic/Combat System Suites, and Mission Critical spaces.

  • Accompany a member of the department to conduct ship checks; attend meetings; read and interpret detailed work items, drawings, and customer contract requirements.

  • Gather and interpret data for reports and analysis.

  • Provide support in preparing reports, documentation and analysis to higher level department personnel.

  • Obtain documentation and other data needed to help develop procedures for future projects and analysis

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently enrolled at a university and pursuing an accredited degree in a business related discipline

  • Must have completed at least two years of college (junior standing) by the start of the internship

  • GPA of 2.75 or higher

  • Ability to work for at least 10 weeks during the summer

Preferred Skills and Education

  • Majoring in Business, Contracts, Procurement, or Contract Administration

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Long term interest in a career within Contracts

  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and interpersonal skills

  • Entry level knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
